We are happy and proud to share that our dedicated team members were honored at the Association of Community Ophthalmologists of India (ACOIN) Silver Jubilee Celebration 2026 held in Kolkata, India from 24 to 27 September 2026. The four-day celebration brought together eye care professionals to mark 25 years of ACOIN’s work in advancing community ophthalmology. Three members of the Mechi Eye Hospital family were among those recognized for their service.
Prof. Dr. Purushottam Joshi- Medical Director of Mechi Eye Hospital was honored with the Golden Eye ACOIN Award. The award recognizes his untiring, dedicated, and sincere commitment to strengthening community eye health care services in Eastern (Rural) Nepal. Under his leadership Mechi Eye Hospital has continued to reach communities that would otherwise struggle to access quality eye care.
Two of our team members Ms. Kabita Karki Outreach Coordinator / Ophthalmic Officer & Ms. Prava Raut- Ophthalmic Officer were also honored with Silver Medals for their dedicated contribution and commitment to community eye health care services in Eastern (Rural) Nepal.
Their work often carried out far from the hospital and closer to the communities we serve reflects the spirit of community eye care. A Proud Moment for the Entire Mechi Eye Hospital Family. These recognitions are not only an honor for the recipients but a proud achievement for the entire Mechi Eye Hospital family. Every doctor, ophthalmic officer, nurse, technician, and support staff member contributes to our mission of providing quality eye care to all.
