Successful Completion of 2-Day Free Surgical Eye Camp in Khadbari, Sankhuwasabha

A two-day Free Surgical Eye Camp, organized by Tejratna Eye and Ear Treatment Center, Khadbari, Sankhuwasabha with the technical support of Mechi Eye Hospital, Birtamode, was successfully conducted on December 1 and 2, 2025. The camp marked another meaningful step toward improving eye health services in remote and underserved communities of eastern Nepal.

The primary aim of the camp was to ensure that people with limited access to eye care could receive timely diagnosis and treatment. Many individuals in the region suffer from avoidable blindness due to cataracts and other treatable eye conditions. By bringing specialists and modern surgical services directly to Khadbari, the camp helped reduce barriers related to distance, affordability, and access.Over two days, the dedicated medical team successfully performed 68 surgeries, including cataract operations and other minor procedures. For many patients, this restored not only their sight but also their independence, confidence, and ability to return to daily work and family responsibilities.

The success of the camp was made possible through seamless collaboration:

Mechi Eye Hospital provided experienced ophthalmologists, surgical expertise, and technical support.

Tejratna Eye and Ear Treatment Center coordinated local logistics, patient flow, and community outreach.

The combined efforts of doctors, nurses, paramedical staff, volunteers, and local organizers ensured safe and efficient service delivery throughout the event.

Mechi Eye Hospital has long been committed to expanding eye care services beyond hospital walls, especially in rural and hilly regions. This camp in Khadbari is part of ongoing efforts to prevent avoidable blindness and promote healthier communities across eastern Nepal.
